In the most modern city on Earth, a Canadian runaway must resume therapy with her drug-addicted psychiatrist in order to stop a killer.
Stella Motsch lives in the world’s most modern city - Vienna - where she’s determined to make a name for herself as a photographer. But when her mentor, Gustav Klimt, is accused of murder, she turns her attention to helping him… which leads her back to a man she never wanted to see again: Sigmund Freud.
This Freud - an anxious, grief-stricken, substance-abusing and desperate failure - is only too glad for the chance. Stella is his “Patient X,” the one who could help prove his outrageous theories. He agrees to help her… if she returns to the therapy couch.
With no other choice, Stella’s resolve collides with Freud’s determination, and they resume their volatile relationship as they search for a killer who threatens to set Vienna on fire by targeting people like them: outsiders and immigrants.
But their most dangerous work could be what happens in Freud’s study. If Stella breaks… she'll take down Freud and his future as well.
